1. Students can request the content of these afternoon classes
2. There may be a choice of class, subject to teacher availability
In the morning classes there is greater emphasis on the 4 skills of reading, yazı, listening and speaking as well as grammar. The afternoon lessons focus primarily on communication and vocabulary expansion, giving students the opportunity to activate the language acquired in the morning.
Changing classes
Although we do our best to ensure that you are in the most suitable class based on the results of your placement test and interview, a student sometimes feels that the work is either too difficult or not sufficiently challenging. Bu gibi durumlarda, we ask that you speak first to your class teacher since they know you best. The Head of English will make the final decision as to whether you remain in the class or move to another one.
Always depending on the number of classes that we have, it may be possible to extend your course at LanguageUK. Again, you will need to talk to the Head of English who will advise you.
Homework and Self-Study
Homework is an integral part of studying at LanguageUK. It is given daily by your teachers and marked on the following day. Your English will improve considerably by combining your daytime studies with supplementary work in the evenings and at weekends.
Self-study is an important element in your programme. You will be given advice on how to work independently during your stay in Canterbury and afterwards. Sometimes we will suggest grammar and vocabulary books to help you with this. We also strongly recommend that, particularly in the case of academic courses, you keep a diary, read the newspapers and listen to the radio as much as possible. Speak to students from other classes and levels in English.
